Minute books, financial records, and miscellaneous papers, including membership applications, printed materials, and some correspondence, documenting the activities of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, Department of Minnesota, and a few of its local circles. The first meeting of the organization was held in Minneapolis on February 23, 1893, and was composed of widows and close relatives of Civil War veterans. The organization was dedicated to promoting the program and activities of the Grand Army of the Republic. It also organized and operated a home for its members in Anoka, Minnesota.
